Ripabianca boasts an ancient tradition in the manufacturing of terracotta vases, oil jars, wine jars and amphors. A most interesting feature of this area is the existence of a work-shop in which traditional methods and techniques are still applied.

The production of these item is carried out, even today, in accordance with the techniques as described by Cipriano Piccolpasso during the second half of the 16th Century. The articles are in themselves tangible evidence of the history and culture of Umbria.

Pieces which are turned at the lathe are left to dry and then kilned. The latter represents a very important process in the manufacture of terracotta items and requires the application of strict rules which have been passed down from father to son.
